2013 was a great year for wordfooling and I hope to fool around even more in 2014.
I blogged weekly, nearly doubled the views of the blog to 7,600 and increased from 20 subscribers to 132. This was mainly thanks to Robert Lee Brewer’s Platform Challenge, and I’m only up to day 9 of 30 on that! It also encouraged me to experience Twitter which I’m loving. Apparently my readers come from 109 countries – you’re all very welcome and if you know somebody else who loves words or writing, feel free to send them the link to the blog. They might like it.
My most popular post this year was about the word tacenda and my favourite word was fossicking.
I also talked about these fine words – finagler, tatterdemalion and ragamuffin, pulchritudinous, imparlibidinous, curmudgeon, myrmidons, prolix, gab, atrabilious, rapscallion, scurrilous, folly, obloquy, boycott, ferris wheel, fargling, tongue twisters, woggle, guillotine, tracklements, fabric words, dramaturg, money, yabba dabba doo, dingus, pandemonium, vexillology, friggatriskaidekaphobia, days of the week, fossicking and pooching, goon & galoot & gombeen, chivalry, baggywrinkle, lusk, wellington boots, and the months of the year.
2014 will see me fooling with new words (and old words) and continuing my eponyms series. If you have an unusual word you’d like featured – drop me a comment below. What was your favourite wordfoolery word this year?
Until next time, happy reading, writing, and wordfooling,
